MY EDUCATION, MY RIGHT
The objective of the programme was to sensitize the chiefs and members of Gbessa Community on the need for education and to get first hand information on how far they have thrived in the area of education and what they need to move it forward from where it is presently.
During the programme, we saw the need for adult education to be strengthened as they already have one in existence. The need for family planning, to reduce the number of children they bare, to make it easy for them to take care of.
Also, to form a group for the women to be able to meet and from time to time visit their children’s class to observe and help the teachers coordinate the children.
The chief emphasized on the need for additional blocks to be added to the classrooms they already have so as to form a session for the senior secondary classes.
The chiefs in his cabinet are already attending classes and are learning very fast on how to read and write.
The chief himself is already in 2nd year in the University of Abuja studying Guidance and Counselling.
